Riksha drivers waiting for customers on Durbar Square. Rikshas were the usual taxis. I can't remember exactly if the terrible motor scooters of today were already present at that time, but I don't think so. Traffic was very scarce and most travellers rented bicycles to move around the city. Even New Road was no problem with a bike or on foot. Today the traffic in Kathmandu is a nightmare and using a bike on New Road is only for those who are weary of life.
